About Me

I’m a junior-year undergraduate student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, majoring in Robotic Engineering and minoring in Mathematics. Currently, I am conducting research on multiple robotic and computer vision topics: Deep Learning Optimization for 3D Vision, Robotic Task and Motion Planning with Scene Understanding, FDM Printing for Soft Robotics, and Healthcare Automation based on Motion Estimation. My research works are supervised by Prof. Ziming Zhang at VISLab@WPI and Prof. Markus Nemitz at RMG. CV: Link.

News

I am actively exploring opportunities for a Ph.D. student position for the fall of 2025. Feel free to contact me via email (hliu8 AT wpi DOT edu) or LinkedIn.

  • This summer, I will join The Helping Hands Lab at Northeastern University as a visiting research student to work on cutting-edge robotic projects focusing on manipulations and 3D vision. Our projects will closely cooperate with Bostn Dynamic AI to address critical challenges in robotics.
  • Our paper: Vision-based FDM Printing for Fabricating Airtight Soft Actuators has been accepted by IEEE RoboSoft 2024 as an Oral Presentation!

Research Vision

My long-term research vision is to build automation systems that can be self-adaptive to new environments based on trustworthy data input from perception and learn motion strategies from logistics reasoning. These systems will assist humans to accomplish challenging tasks in the physical world.
